====== Balloon launch site ====== [[ballonstartplatz:aip]] Our club grounds, which also serve as a launch site, are located on the outskirts of Bitterfeld on Richard-Schütze-Straße. The Bitterfeld balloon field is equipped with a hydrogen connection that offers the opportunity to fill gas balloons in the shortest possible time, all year round, on weekdays and weekends. The supplier is the Linde company, the hydrogen is produced in Leuna, and is then delivered directly to Bitterfeld via a hydrogen network. The launch site is a registered launch site and can therefore be found on the ICAO aeronautical chart. //The special airfield Bitterfeld-Wolfen is very special for air sports in Saxony-Anhalt. It is the only landing field for gas balloons in all of Eastern Germany. Due to its size and extent, it is one of the few gas balloon launch sites that makes major events such as the 1996 and 2004 World Championships for Gas Balloons and the 2007 and 2013 German Championships possible at all. This also increases the region's popularity, boosts tourism and maintains the long tradition of ballooning. Before the Second World War, Bitterfeld was the centre of ballooning in Germany, with over 2000 gas balloon launches. Although this number has not been reached again since then, at least 550 launches have been recorded since 1990.//(( Source: Publication Luftverkehr in Sachsen-Anhalt)) At the balloon field, about 20 gas balloons can be prepared for take-off at the same time. ===== Contact ===== [[:impressum]] ===== Launch site address ===== //Attention: Not a postal address// Richard-Schütze-Str.1\\ 06749 Bitterfeld-Wolfen\\ ===== Launch site coordinates ===== The launch site has the following coordinates (WGS84): 51° 37′ 28.5″ (51° 37.475‘) (51.62458°) north latitude 12° 17′ 40.4″ (12° 17.674’) (12.29456°) east longitude.
